Rinsing Instructions for Tie Dye

So you Tie Dyed with Tiana!

What now?

If you took your wet shirt home, wait 24-48 hours, leaving it mostly still (don't swing it around or play catch with it), it takes that long for the dye and the fibers to bind, and then...

After 24 hours! Rinse shirt in cold water while removing rubber bands (wear gloves, or live dangerously), rinse in cold until water runs almost clear. It should look like what happens when you drink all your soda and then the ice melts.
Then, turn water to hot. Different dye color molecules release at different temperatures, and you want to rinse all the excess (unbound) dye out before washing it.
Once your hot water rinse looks like melted soda ice, turn the water back to cold and rinse one last time. This cold soak causes the fibers to contract and you may even notice the fabric gets slightly thicker, less pliable.
Wash in a machine alone with regular cycle and regular detergent on warm.
Dry normally (you might want to throw a couple towels in with it in the dryer, one single shirt just becomes a hot, wet, ball in the dryer alone).

After you've rinsed, washed, and dried your shirt, you should be able to wash it with colors on warm with no color transfer.
